New Orleans' Quilt Cottage Reopens after Katrina
The Quilt Cottage, the only major quilt store in the city of New Orleans, has reopened and is greeting customers on a reduced schedule. The shop, at 801 Nashville Ave. (at the corner of Magazine St.), escaped flooding and major wind damage. "The storm blew our sign down," said owner Carol Schiaffino, "but other than that we came out pretty well."

On our recent visit, the shop had all the New Orleans charm it always has, specializing in many unique Mardi Gras and other fabrics, and with a large selection of books and notions. "We've really outgrown this space," Carol says, "but it's such a great location we can't give it up."
If you're going to be in The Big Easy, stop by and say hello, but call ahead at 504-895-3791 to be sure they're open!

My cousin and I are coming to see you May 3rd 2007 before we take our cruise. Sure hope you are there as we are avid quilters and our trip to Paducah got messed up. If not will you email me at mamakitty@elltel.net? Louise and Laura
It is with great sadness that I inform you of Carol's sudden death on March 27, 2007 from septic shock. We all loved Carol and looked to her for our quilting advice and friendship. She will b e greatly missed.
